Wacom making moves

For a company that would put out so few products, and take forever to update them, it seemed like they were on the verge on going irrelevant, Wacom seems to be making a lot of moves lately faster then they ever did in the past. It was just a few months ago they released the Movink Pad, and now they are releasing a more performance focused Movink Pad Pro 14.

I recently got a hands on with the 11" Movink Pad, and while interesting, it was hard to justify it over the Samsung Tab S11 given that has way more bells and whistles, of which this newer 14-inch model seems to have. Although I am digging their price points, which are shockingly affordable compared to Samsungs Tab series.

They also released a 14-inch Wacom One for like $300. Its like every time I look Wacom is putting out a…

It's around £/$400 cheaper for the comparable Wacom, which is pretty wild (and great). And you get a better pen with the Wacom.

I don't think the Samsung extra performance and features are worth it if you're mainly using it as a pen tablet. As a general purpose computer, that's another matter and the Samsung will be much better.

Given Samsung tablets don't really seem to decreases in value by a huge amount, these MovInk Wacoms are looking great.

Amazon announces new Kindle Scribe lineup

Three devices:

Feels about right, though I hope that there's a neutral colour option for the $630 Colorsoft version. Mainstream unit is $500, and a unit without a front light is the entry-level at $430.

Support for OneDrive! Now we're talking!!! I'm (almost) in! Next I need to see if the annotations sync as well, and are editable with Drawboard PDF.

Edit: the product page states "With support for Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, it’s easy to import documents for mark-up and export annotated PDFs." Doesn't sound as simple as OneDrive sync, but infinitely better than on Scribe V1. I'm excited, I think this will be my next e-ink device. $680 for 64GB does pinch a little. 😅

Zenbook Duo 14 (2025)

Well, I finally got a new laptop to replace my Galaxy Book 10.6, although it may soldier on yet as a fourth device...

Here she is all set up.

The good:

  • The two screens really are handy.

  • Vertical mode is great. I'm using it more than portrait.

Jealous, always wanted that one, just can't financially justify it. How is the pen performance?

Any takers?
  • No EMR.

  • Stupid aspect ratio—it won’t even auto-fit a PDF, cutting off left and right sides. You have to manually adjust to about .7x each and every page.

  • Their file handling methods/policies.

  • The price.
