Hello everyone,
I understand that the community has generally decided against using Discord, but I thought it might be beneficial to give it a try before completely dismissing it. Of course, participation is not mandatory, but I've been missing the frequency of discussions we had in the past, and I believe this could be a potential solution.
If you're interested in joining it, please use this link. (active for 7 days) https://discord.gg/CkhpUrpY
I'm happy to make others admins of the server so there can be community ownership.
Update: there is a way to make the invite link last forever (I'm still a noob on Discord). This should get you in anytime you choose. https://discord.gg/5KBGJNUWwp

Can I get another invite please?
Some of my Facebook groups are bailing for Discord, so I downloaded Discord again. I just joined. We can complain about the lack of any interesting developments in tablet land.
I appreciate the effort and there's no harm in having it, but I don't think Discord is suitable for this community.
There are too few of us, around too infrequently. Therefore long form posts, that are visibly persistent are best. Discord is a chat application.
And due to there being too few of us, you can't really have a discussion at any given time. And if there are enough users, people just turn notifications off and eventually leave because there's too much chatter they don't care for.
We could have Discord events, but I don't think most of us care that much as to block out time in advance for it.
I remember when some folks were confused by Reddit and I was like "How? Reddit's great!" Now, I feel that way as I have never done anything on Discord in my life.
Hell, at this point, I can't even remember the URL for the new site, and have to go to the Reddit forum to link here.
That having been said, I appreciate the effort to find a new medium to help drive traffic.
Says the link expired.
I hate to have a negative opinion about this, but isn't this the same as when we re-restarted with a new forum and a sub reddit? The sub reddit only got used until the forum was decently up and running and then the reddit was effectively forgotten. Dividing discussion into two apps doesn't seem like it would encourage continuity, which is an essential element for a successful meeting place...
Just my opinion, though...
