Boox Tab X
Shiny new (to me) toy incoming.....I actually bid on an ebay auction. I can't remember the last time I actually bid on something. It's like that time a few years ago that I ordered a used book on Amazon. It's like I did that thing the site was originally created for but no one does anymore.
The fancy new boox Tab X C did away with EMR, and the Note Max did away with a front light. Both decisions I suppose to be in pursuit of slimming the front glass to screen gap for the best writing feel. But both of those omissions were deal breakers to me. So, Tab X it is!
Thanks eBay and dude in San Jose who set up the sale as an auction. It closed a good bit below my max price, which was still a good bit below the "buy it now" one I was thinking of getting. Now the retro-style wait while it ships ground all the way across the country. Buy It Now and Prime shipping have really spoiled me.
It's here much faster than expected and it's exactly what I hoped it would be. It's just like my max lumi, but faster, clearer, thinner, and lighter. Perfect.
I had hoped to have color to improve my score mark up for conducting, but honestly, changing colors is clunky and at the level I conduct, extensive score study is not neccessary.
The color layer on my Tab Ultra C really does take away from the clarity, and this giant black and white screen is just spectacular for reading music. I'm using the eInk specific version of MobileSheets Pro and an amazon-alphabet-soup bluetooth foot pedal. I've used it in practice for two days and I'll get to use it in rehearsal on Monday.
